Rules for giving a good presentation
1. Prepare Thoroughly
- make sure that you know all about the topic you’re presenting
2. Decide on the Format
- Will it be in person or available as a computer file
3. Write a Script

The slides should be a summary of the main points
4. Keep the Slides Simple
Do not allow colours to clash – text, pictures
Use the same background for all slides
Do not use hard to read fonts
No more than 2 pictures per slide
5. Use Opening and Closing Slides
Start with an attention-grabbing opening slide
The closing slide should leave the audience with the main message of the presentation.
6. Keep each Slide’s content to a Minimum
Golden Rule – no more than 6 words /line
No more than 5 lines of text per slide
Font size should be big enough for the back audience to see.

7. Don’t use too many slides
Each slide should be visible for 2 minutes.
A ten-minutes slide should have no more than 5 main slides
8. Test any Animation Effects
Using the hardware that will be used in the presentation.

Rehearse, then rehearse, then rehearse again.
