Vocabulary - email
Email -sending messages from one computer to another
Email address - The location of e-mails.
Connect - This refers to the ability of a software application or piece of equipment to connect to another application or piece of equipment
Inbox/Outbox/Sent Items - Folders that contain emails that you receive, waiting to be sent, sent
CC (carbon copy) - A carbon copy or "cc" are those people who are not directly involved with the email but they need to see it for information purposes. For example, you may send an email to a colleague using the 'To' field, then you may 'cc' a copy for your manager for reference.
Subject line - Enter the subject of the message
Online / Offline - Offline means to be not connected to a network. As opposed to 'Online' which
means to be connected to a network - either a local network such as a school intranet or the Internet.
Send - when a message is send from an e-mail system
Receive - when a message is received from an e-mail system
Reply - sending an e-mail to the sender
Forward - allows you to send the e-mail to another email address
Webmail - Email where you do not have to be connected to a particular ISP
ISP Hosted mail - Internet Service Provider
Mailbox - a special place where all the recipient's e-mails are sent
Attachment - a file sent via e-mail
Folder - Another name for a file directory. A directory structure allows you to organize the files and folders on your computer in a sensible manner.
Address Book - a place were e-mail addresses are kept
BC (Blind Copy) - A blind carbon copy or "bcc" are those people who are not directly involved with the email but they need to see it for information purposes. The people in the 'To' fields and perhaps the 'cc' fields will not see who received the blind copies.
